SGPE supplies high-quality Releasing Spears for oil and gas drilling, well servicing, workover and downhole fishing operations. Also known as an Oilfield Releasing Spear, Grapple Releasing Spear or Internal Catch Fishing Tool, this equipment is designed to engage, retrieve and release tubular fish from inside the wellbore. It is widely used for recovering stuck tubing, broken drill pipe, casing sections and other hollow downhole equipment. With reliable gripping performance, durable construction and a controlled releasing mechanism, the Releasing Spear provides an effective solution for demanding oilfield fishing and pipe recovery applications.
The SGPE LM-T Series Releasing Spear is an internal catching tool that grips the inside surface of a tubular fish through a specially designed grapple assembly. The tool mainly consists of a mandrel, grapple, releasing ring and bull nose nut. The mandrel is manufactured from high-strength alloy steel with suitable heat treatment to provide mechanical strength and wear resistance. The grapple is designed to engage the internal wall of the fish, while the releasing mechanism allows the tool to disengage when necessary. The bull nose nut assists with tool entry and alignment during fishing operations.
During operation, the Releasing Spear is lowered into the fish through the fishing string. After reaching the required engagement position, the grapple is activated according to the specified operating procedure. The gripping mechanism creates an internal connection, allowing pulling and jarring forces to be transmitted to the stuck tubular. If the fish cannot be recovered, the operator can release the spear using the manufacturer's recommended procedure. This releasing capability provides additional operational flexibility and helps reduce the risk of losing further equipment downhole.

SGPE offers a comprehensive range of LM-T Releasing Spears, including LM-T60, LM-T73, LM-T89, LM-T102, LM-T114, LM-T127, LM-T140, LM-T168, LM-T178, LM-T194, LM-T219, LM-T245, LM-T273 and LM-T340. The product series covers different fishing sizes, with published catch-size references ranging from approximately 47.4 mm to 323 mm. Allowable pulling loads vary by model, with selected configurations rated from 270 kN to 2,500 kN. Available upper connections include NC26, NC31, NC38, NC50 and 6-5/8 REG. All dimensions, connections and load capacities must be verified against the corresponding model specifications.
Two mandrel configurations are available: Flush Type Mandrel and Shoulder Type Mandrel. The Flush Type is suitable for applications requiring deeper engagement inside the tubular fish, while the Shoulder Type incorporates a landing shoulder to assist with controlled positioning. Different grapple sizes can be selected according to the actual internal diameter of the fish. Customized mandrel configurations, upper connections and replacement components can be evaluated based on customer requirements.
The Releasing Spear is suitable for tubing fishing, casing recovery, drill pipe retrieval, stuck pipe recovery, oil well workover and other downhole fishing operations. It can be incorporated into fishing assemblies with compatible fishing jars, bumper subs, safety joints and internal cutters when required by the fishing program. Its internal gripping design is particularly useful where the outside surface of the fish is inaccessible or unsuitable for conventional external catching tools.
